James Toseland the double World Superbike Champion turned musician will headline the summer round of the MCE British Superbike Championships at Brands Hatch.
He will be on stage at the July round of the Championship on the evening of Saturday 18th July and entry will be free of charge to those with valid MCE BSB ticketholders.
The annual summer Superbike round at Brands Hatch on the legendary Grand Prix circuit is one of the biggest events of the season, with a real festival atmosphere and tens of thousands of fans, many of whom stay on the circuit’s campsite for all three days. 16-time WSB race winner Toseland will be performing after MCE BSB qualifying day on the Saturday, whilst rock and roll act Statesboro Revue will be on the support bill, which will also include top DJs. This will be the largest music event of any kind at the iconic track since 2008.
Toseland has fond memories of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit from his World Championship racing career, including his sensational double victory in front of a massive, partisan crowd on the way to lifting the title for the second time in 2007.
Toseland’s appearance at the July event follows the recent announcement that his band will be supporting Status Quo on their forthcoming tour, as he builds to his debut album release on 24 March. Toseland will also continue to feature in racing paddocks around the world after he was revealed last week as part of the presenting team for the 2014 MotoGP season on British television.
James Toseland said: “I’m so excited to be coming back to Brands Hatch to perform with my band Toseland! I haven’t been back to the circuit for such a long time and I’m looking forward to being back at a place that has such amazing memories for me. My debut album ‘Renegade’ comes out in March and I can’t wait to perform all of the eleven tracks from it at the event. I hope to see all the fans there because the atmosphere is going to be incredible!”
MCE British Superbike Championship Series Director Stuart Higgs said: “We are delighted to welcome James home to Brands Hatch, the scene of his dominating World Superbike double race-win in 2007 en-route to his second world championship crown. His new full-time music career is going from strength to strength and it will be great to see him headline the Saturday evening entertainment and perform live to the thousands of fans at our MCE BSB summer spectacular weekend.”
