The Newcastle Chronicle is reporting that Charlton and Wolves are vying to take Newcastle’s French winger, Yoan Gouffran, on loan before the emergency loan window closes on 25 November.
The Addicks have also been considering a loan move for Leyton Orient’s out-of-favour winger, Jobi McAnuff.
While McAnuff is 34-years-old and in the twilight of his career, Grouffan is 29 and at the peak of his powers. The Frenchman is a flying machine and can also play as a striker.
Gouffran came through the academy at Caen and went on to make 115 first team appearances, scoring 33 goals.
Gouffran then moved to Bordeaux where he netted 33 goals in 155 appearances, before switching to Newcastle in January 2013 for £1,400,000.
He made his Toon debut in a 2-1 win at Villa Park the same month, and scored his first goal in Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham in February.
Gouffran has become the forgotten man at St James’ Park this season, and has made just two appearances.
He started in the 4-1 Capital One Cup win over Northampton at St James’ in August, as well as the 6-1 defeat at Manchester City in October.
Gouffran would be a more expensive option than McAnuff, but his pace would be a potent weapon in the Championship.
