Tonbridge Angels head into the biggest game in the club’s history this weekend as they host Harborough Town in the first round of the FA Cup at the Longmead Stadium.
Although four years ago they were also in the first round, this was during Covid times and the game was played in front of an empty stadium, when they lost to Bradford City 7-0.
This weekend though the Angels supports will be there and they will be there in force to cheer their side on, as they look to book a place in the second round of the greatest cup competition in the world.
It is looking like it could very well be a sell out for Jay Saunders and his Angels side. Harborough Town are currently plying their trade in the Southern Premier League Central, where they are currently 16th with 16 points from their 13 games.
It will still be a tough game for Saunders and his side, as they beaten Leamington and Bury Football Club on their way to the first round, it is the first time the side have reached the first round, so it promises to be the biggest day in the club’s history as well.
They do boast ex-Gillingham striker Gary Mulligan as part of their squad.
Angels go into the game on the back of a defeat against Truro City, having conceded in the last minute, that was after Crossley Lema had grabbed an equaliser for Tonbridge and it looking like they would take a point from the game.
They currently sit in 12th place in the league with 20 points from their 13 games.
