Angels Ladies kept up the pressure on leaders Thamesview with a hard-earned 2-0 win at home to Vinters on Sunday.
The hosts were in control from the start and should have taken the lead within the first minute with Lauryn Underhill through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, but the striker steered her shot wide.
Vinters have always been a difficult team to score against and this match was proving no different with chances continuing to go begging for much of the half. Finally the Vinters defence was unlocked in the 33rd minute when Megan Akehurst rounded the goalkeeper to score.
Five minutes later the lead was doubled when Underhill struck the bar only for the rebound to find Becky Jarvis, who drove a shot into the net on her first competitive start for the team.
Despite continuing to dominate throughout the second half, Tonbridge were unable to increase their lead, but at the other end of the pitch a fifth clean sheet in seven league games was secured thanks to another strong defensive performance.
The Angels now embark on four away games in a row starting with a trip to 4th placed Petts Wood Honeybuzzards next Sunday.
