This was a game of two halves and Tonbridge Angels who were having a great season will be gutted that they didn’t pick up the three points but fair play to Slough Town as they came back for the point but nearly won the game, for the neutral this was a cracking game with both Managers ecstatic and disappointed.
Tonbridge in previous games had started very slow so it was important to start on the front foot & in the 2nd minute Devante Aransibia tried his luck from 30 yards but it flew just past the post, then Slough took control & in the 4th minute could have taken the lead when Ogo Obi was put through & ran into the area but Jon Henly rushed out & saved Obi’s shot & two minutes later Obi was again put through but from an acute angle Henly saved again.
In the 20th minute Tonbridge took the lead against the run of play when Jamie Fielding on the right crossed into 6 yard box where Jordan Greenidge was & his header beat Rhys Forster.
As normally happens goals change games & Tonbridge were now playing with confidence. In the very next minute Obi was again released but his shot went wide & then after this Tonbridge would be in charge.
In the 23rd minute they nearly doubled their lead when a corner into the area was half cleared to Sonny Miles & his shot from 6 yards was cleared off the line.
Seven minutes later Jack Wood disposed defender & ran on into the area but his shot was saved by Forster. In the space of two minutes Tonbridge scored two goals when firstly in the 43rd minute Joe Turner on the left wing saw his low cross acrobatically stabbed home by Aransibia then in the 45th minute Lewis Gard running forward on the left saw his low cross tapped in at the far post by Greenidge.
The half time whistle went & the Tonbridge manager & fans were in heaven & looking like they would climb the table with this victory.
The second half started with Tonbridge having a chance to score their fourth in the 48th minute when Wood on the run went into the area but his shot went across the goal & out for a goal kick.
Two minutes later Slough got a goal back which looked like a consolation goal when Matt Lench running towards goal let fly from 25 yards & it flew into the net.
Slough were now looking for a second & in the 63rd minute Lee Togwell tried his luck from 25 yards but this time it went just past the post.
In the 75th minute Slough got their second when Johnny Goddard on the edge of the area on his own shot past Henly game on. In the 78th minute a cross from the left wing came back off the cross bar & a minute later they equalised when Francis Amartey turned Ben Swift & ran towards goal & from 8 yards shot past Henly.
Slough were now pushing for a winner while Tonbridge seemed shell shocked by it all. The last real chance of the game came in the 87th minute when Substitute Tommie Fagg saw his shot from 20 yards go just over the bar.
The final whistle went & a draw seemed to be the right result although both managers would disagree.
