Tonbridge Angels 3-2 Kingstonian
Tonbridge Angels 3-2 Kingstonian

In this most unpredictable of Bostik Premier campaigns, the form book was once again turned on its head as Tonbridge Angels who had experienced a pretty miserable last few weeks deservedly overcame a Kingstonian side who arrived at Longmead unbeaten since 1st December.

The home side took the lead after 10 minutes. Chinedu McKenzie fed the ball to his fellow striker Alex Read who flicked the ball past Kingstonian keeper Rob Tolfrey.

The Angels doubled their advantage on 27 minutes when Reid turned provider with a pass to Joe Turner whose shot from the edge of the area nestled in the corner of the net.

Kingstonian responded in dramatic fashion by levelling the scoreline on the stroke of half time. Tonbridge were caught out by a short corner routine with Dean Inman producing the header and then with hardly time to draw breath Shaun McAuley for the visitors beat Angels keeper Jonny Henly.

The second half saw The Angels creating more chances than their visitors who appeared not to be helped by an enforced substitution on 57 minutes due to injury.

Up front the Angels pairing of Read with McKenzie were providing plenty of problems for the Kingstonian defence while at the other end Rhys Murrell-Williamson was proving a handful but the strikers for the Surrey side seemed to have left their shooting boots at home.

The winning goal came in the 71st minute with a Tonbridge free kick that was fumbled by Tolfrey and McKenzie in attendance close in forced the ball over the line.
