Despite Tonbridge Angels losing they did not lose any ground on the race for the play-offs but a lack lustre performance in the second half did not help the cause.

Taunton did the double over them & scored seven goals in the process so for Jay Saunders was this just a bad day at the office or will the consistencies of the League conspire to leave them outside the play-offs.

The game saw both sides having a go & in the 6th minute Tonbridge nearly took the lead when Devonte Aransibia Saw his 20 yard snapshot go just over the bar.

Tonbridge were now having the better chances as in the 16th minute the returning Tommy Wood was put through into the area & from an acute angle saw his shot from 10 yards saved by Lloyd Irish.

Five minutes later Tonbridge took the lead when Scott Wagstaff passed forward for Jordan Greenidge in the area & he turned the defender & shot home from 6 yards.

In the 36th minute Taunton had their first half chance when Ross Stern on the edge of the area saw his shot go over the bar but then in the next minute they equalised when Jay Foulston picked up a clearance & from 25 yards saw his shot fly into the net giving Jon Henly no chance.

Tonbridge were shocked by this as they had been the better side but in the 41st minute they went in front when Aransibia 22 yards out saw his shot fly into net diving Irish no chance.

Right on the half time whistle Tonbridge could have increased their lead when Greenidge in the area saw his shot blocked & end up at Wood’s feet but from 10 yards he shot over.

The second half saw Taunton come out with more purpose while Tonbridge seemed to sit on their laurels as in the 50th minute a cross into the area found Stern but from 10 yards he volleyed over the bar this should have been a warning to Tonbridge.

In the 64th minute Taunton equalised when Zac Smith was fouled in the area & up stepped Stern who shot into the bottom left hand corner.

Four minutes later & Taunton took the lead when a ball to the back post was headed back & then a header came back was saved by Henly but came out to Jake Wannell who shot home from 10 yards.

The home crowd were silenced by this & shocked. Tonbridge tried to get back into the game & in the 71st minute Aransibia saw his 20 yard shot parried away by Irish & then hacked clear.

In the 78th minute Taunton nearly extended their lead when a free kick into the area saw a header come back of the post.

In the 81st minute came a contentious decision when a ball into the area saw Irish push it away & a Tonbridge player retrieved it but Irish looked to have fouled him & but the Referee gave nothing which surprised most of the people in the ground & in the 87th minute came the last chance for Tonbridge when substitute Jack Wood saw his header go over the bar & although Tonbridge threw everything at Taunton nothing came & the three points went West.
