Tonbridge Angels moved up to third in the table after this impressive win in difficult conditions as the wind was very strong and did cause both sides problems.
Tonbridge dominated the first half and possibly should have been further in front but for Casuals keeper Daniel Bracken being in great form, in the second it was a more even but in the end they deserved the victory.
The Angels started the quicker of the two teams, in the 10th minute took the lead when a Tom Derry cross from the right missed everyone but rebounded to Chinedu McKenzie who turned and shot home from 10 yards.
Casuals had their first half chance in the 12th minute when Kevant Serbony 25 yards out tried his luck but it went wide. Tonbridge continued to dominate possession, in the 20th minute a Joe Turner cross into the area found Berry but his flicked header from 12 yards went wide, two minutes later a training ground free kick saw Tom Beere low into the near post saw Derry’s side foot shot go just past the post.
A minute later Turner found himself in the area in space his shot from 15 yards was parried away by Bracken for a corner and in the very next moment Jarod Small in the area saw his shot pushed away by Bracken and cleared. In the 32nd minute Beere from halfway ran forward before releasing Small who jinked inside, his shot from just inside the area went over the bar. Three minutes later Tonbridge had Jon Henly to thank for keeping them in front when Warren Mfula running through into the area and tried to go round Henly but he grabbed the ball from his feet.
The second half was a bit of a slog for Tonbridge as Casuals upped the tempo, had the conditions in their favour. In the 50th minute Benjamin Aghadiuno was put through on goal, Henly rushed out and tackled him outside of his area and cleared.
Eight minutes later Hamilton Antonio on the edge of the area tried his luck but it went over the bar. In the very next minute Beere 25 yards out saw his shot whizz past the post.
Two minutes later Turner on the left saw his low cross to the near post diverted towards the goal by McKenzie but Bracken saved it. In a breakaway in the very next minute Substitute Maxwell Oldham found himself in the area, his shot was deflected for a corner. Casuals were now getting close to an equaliser with Tonbridge defending well, in the 68th minute a great chance came for Casual to equalise when Majed Osman got to the by-line and his cross to the back post found Oldham who side footed effort went across the goal before being cleared.
Tonbridge were getting close to victory, then in 85th minute they scored to make the game safe, a free kick by Jack Parter close to the corner on the left into the area saw a Casuals defender hand ball it & a penalty given, Turner stepped up & shot into the bottom left hand side of the goal.
