Tonbridge’s bogie side are Farnborough in whatever guise there football club is as they have not beaten them before & same happened today as Farnborough came away with the spoils.
They started the game the quicker & in the 2nd minute a short corner was crossed into the area for Elvis Hammond (who would work his socks off) whose shot was cleared off the line by Gary Elphick.
They continued to dominate & in the 18th minute they deservedly took the lead when Josh Huggins long ball caught the Tonbridge defence out & Hammond went in to the area before chipping over the onrushing Clark Masters.
Tonbridge finally got into the game & in the 26th minute a quick free kick to Henry Muggeridge whose cross to the backpost found Elphick whose header was saved by Kevin Scriven, two minutes later Chris Piper cross to the backpost saw Nathan Pinney stretching for it & his shot went into sidenetting.
Farnborough nearly went further in front when Ryan Watts lost possession to Daniel Bennett who ran on & his shot from 20 yards was pushed over the bar by Masters.
They increased there lead in the 41st minute when Ollie Treacher & Phil Page combined with Page on his own by the by-line & his cross shot was deflected into the path of Scott Donnerly who from 15 yards volleyed in.
Tonbridge looked out of sorts & out of the game but three minutes later they had a lifeline when a Watts free kick floated into the area was met by Pinney whose header beat Scriven.
The second half saw Tonbridge dominate play but without getting a goal, in the 48th minute Piper in the area headed down for David Ijaha whose shot from 6 yards was smothered by Scriven.
Farnborough thought they had increased their lead when a free kick into the area saw Page head in but the Flag had gone up for offside relief for Tonbridge.
On the hour Muggeridge running across the area saw his shot just go past the post & two minutes later a free kick into the area was met by Elphick’s head but under pressure from the keeper it went wide.
Farnborough finally got their third goal but this was contentious as in the 75th a free kick into the area saw Sonny Miles adjudged to have fouled Hammond & a penalty was given, up stepped Donnerly who shot into the bottom right hand corner.
Six minutes later it could have been worse for Tonbridge as Page on the left crossed low for Hammond who got the faintest touch on it as it went towards the goal forcing Masters to just about get a finger to it & push it onto the post before being cleared.
The final whistle went & Tonbridge’s poor form against Farnborough continued.
