Tonbridge Angels 1-2 Bath City
Tonbridge Angels 1-2 Bath City

Tonbridge Angels lost again to the West Country as Bath City came from behind to win, as manager Jay Saunders said there were too many players not at their best but praised Bath for their deserved victory.

The game started in atrocious conditions but the new pitch made the game possible & Bath started the quicker as in the 5th minute a long ball forward to Scott Wilson who went into the area & saw his shot saved by Jon Henly who would be called into action quite a lot.

Bath were dominating possession while Tonbridge chased shadows then in the 13th minute Louis Collins passed to TQ Addy who cut in & from 18 yards saw his shot parried away by Ryan Clarke.

For the next 15 minutes Bath controlled the game without causing any problems then in the 28th minute Addy tried his luck from 20 yards but Clarke easily saved it then two minutes later Dan Hayfield tried his luck from 20 yards but Henly saved it.

In the 32nd minute Bath thought they had taken the lead when a cross into the area was half cleared but straight to Cody Cooke & his first time shot was superbly saved by Henly & following the corner Henly was called into action again.

Six minutes later Tonbridge took the lead against the run of play when Tariq Hinds ( who was only playing because Jamie Fielding was injured in the warm up ) passed inside to Jeremy Santos & his shot from 22 yards was parried out by Clarke but only for Collins to react the fastest & he shot past Clarke.

The rest of the half saw Tonbridge get more into the game as goals change games, Bath were a little shell shocked.

Half time arrived & the question now was could Tonbridge hold on.

The second half saw Bath up the tempo & in the 56th minute Alex Fletcher 25 yards saw his shot saved by Henly he was having an inspirational game.

Bath finally got the equaliser they deserved in the 64th minute when on a counter attack Hayfield running forward saw his shot from 20 yards beat Henly.

The question now was could Tonbridge hold on for the draw but eight minutes later the answer was no, a corner into the 6 yard box saw the ball crash around the area before Fletcher from 3 yards smashed into the net, this was Bath deserved.

The last 18 minutes plus added on time would see Tonbridge trying to get an equaliser but Bath would cause problems on the break.

The final whistle went & Bath deservedly took the three point home to Somerset while Tonbridge would lick their wounds & go again against Concord Rangers this Tuesday.
