In this Kent derby between relegation battlers Tonbridge and Bromley who were trying to achieve as high a play off spot as possible, both sides had to settle for a point which in the end won’t have done enough to help either side.
Bromley started the game on top, playing down the hill they created several early chances with Danny Waldren, Brendan Kiernan and Rob Swaine all going close.
Then on 9 minutes The Ravens took the lead when Swaine’s header was spilled by Lewis Carey at the feet of Bradley Goldberg who tapped in from inches out for 1-0.
Tonbridge mounted a response after falling behind with Mark Lovell shooting wide before they drew level on 21 minutes when a neat ball over the Bromley defence was collected by Alex Teniola who coolly slotted the ball past the on rushing Joe Welch to equalise.
As the half went on Bromley had chances to go ahead again but Goldberg missed two good chances when one on one with Carey and the former Bromley keeper also made a good save from Joe Anderson’s free kick.
The second half took a long time to get going with scrappy spells of play and few chances. The Angels pressed for a while and then The Ravens responded with a good spell of their own with Louis Dennis having a shot palmed away by Carey and Goldberg’s effort from the rebound cleared off the line by Jon Heath.
Sub Jay May had a powerful effort tipped away by Carey and also missed a with a header late on, with Bromley’s final effort seeing Elliott Buchanan blaze over when well placed on the edge of the box.
In effect Tonbridge were one goalkeeping howler away from a vital three points, but it was Carey who kept them in the game in the second half.
