It was four wins from four this July as Fleet did all the damage to their hosts in the first-half of this one.

It took just three minutes for the visitors to get a sight of goal when Greg Cundle’s darting run linked up with Toby Edser whose shot from the edge of the area forced a save from Portsmouth loanee Toby Steward.

The first penalty of the pre-season campaign then went in favour of the Fleet as Nathan Odokonyero was on the receiving end of a heavy tackle against his former club and had to be helped off the pitch to play no further part.

Fresh from scoring on Saturday, Kwame Thomas stepped up to take and he sent Steward the wrong way to break the deadlock.

The scoreline would soon double when Edser found the back of the net. A long throw-in from Tyler Cordner picked out Kwame Thomas at the near post and he flicked a ball across goal where the Fleet’s No.17 arrived to slot home.

Tonbridge showed flurries of chances after that as they kept the Fleet away from their own box for a spell and asked a few questions of Harrison Firth who was quickly into the action with some assured handling. Liam Vincent’s strike from close range allowed Firth to showcase his shot-stopping abilities as he denied the hosts a goal before half-time.

Indeed it was Fleet who found the net again when a strong run from Dominic Poleon down the left saw him get a low shot away that Thomas rushed in to divert and wrong-foot the goalkeeper for 3-0.

A slow start to a more uneven second-half saw Tonbridge on the front foot to keep Firth busy and he had to clear from a Sean Shields cross into the area.

Fleet carved out a couple of openings, Poleon slotting a neat ball towards the path of Thomas but Steward calmly collected that one. The hosts’ closest chance came moments later when Mo Dabre hit an effort across goal and narrowly wide.

But Firth kept a clean sheet across his shift in goal after doing the same for 45 minutes of Saturday’s friendly and Fleet head into Friendly Number Five this Saturday once more at the Kuflink Stadium.

EUFC squad from: Firth, Cousins, Page, Cordner, John, Fonguck, Poleon, Cundle, Domi, Edser, Tanga, Phillips, Odokonyero, Dallison, Tanner, Thomas, Trialist.
