It was honours even once again for these two sides who repeated the 0-0 scoreline that took place at Hartsdown Park earlier on in the season.

The Angels were largely in control during the first period against a strangely lethargic Margate who mustered just one real chance of note when Orlando Smith was allowed to turn on the edge of the area but his effort was blocked.

By contrast the hosts mounted a series of attacks with in particular the left flank combination of Jack Parter and Joe Turner proving a real handful for the ‘Gate defence.

The home side’s Andre McCollin and Dan Thompson had chances while in the 33rd minute the outstanding Turner saw his rasping shot just skim over the bar. The problem for the Angels was that despite dominating, they didn’t get a breakthrough.

There was little change to the pattern of play in the second half with the home side again always looking the likelier to score with their ability to change suddenly from a short passing game to a more long ball philosophy.

Margate for their part mostly stuttered in attack although Jordan Chiedozie did a force a good save from Jonny Henly early in the half. Just before that Luke Blewden had seen his effort go just wide of the Margate post.

There were chances for Akrofi and Thompson while Turner saw his on target shot headed away by a Margate defender presumably not trusting the hands of ‘keeper Lenny Pidgeley.

In the 87th minute when Tommy Whitnell’s pin point cross to the head of substitute Nathan Elder failed to beat Pidgeley it seemed the deadlock was not be broken.

Afterwards, Angels Assistant Manager, Barry Moore said: “We were very pleased with the way everyone played tonight. It was a good performance and probably deserved all three points. The players are starting to understand the system we are using and that understanding will only improve as the season progresses.”
