Tonbridge Angels 0-0 Bromley

This Kent derby between Ryman Premier Division and Conference South teams ended all square with both sides having spells of pressure, but neither making the breakthrough that would have seen them progress in the competition.

The game started in open fashion with The Angels having slightly the better of things, Tommy Whitnell firing narrowly wide from just inside the box.

Bromley settled into the game and Jordan Robertson missed a great chance to score when he turned a superb Ugo Udoji cross just past the post.

Danny Waldren headed wide from a corner for The Ravens and Tonbridge’s Whitnell had a header saved by debutant Keeper Craig King who was brought in on loan from Luton Town this week.

Just before the break Moses Ademola had a powerful effort tipped away by Tom Halder to keep the scores tied at the half.

The second half saw both sides step up the tempo, Bromley pressed early on with Louis Dennis shooting wide after a quick one two with Ademola.

Soon after the young winger hit the bar with a curling effort from just outside the area which had left Hadler stranded. Ali Fuseini had a shot saved and Dennis hit a free kick over after being brought down by Jerrome Sobers who was lucky not to receive a second yellow card for the foul.

The Angels battled their way back into things when Alex Teniola had a header saved by King who was also on hand to deny Chris Piper soon after.

Late on Joe Anderson had a well struck shot tipped over and also forced another save from Hadler with a low free kick, as things got more and more physical on a very heavy pitch with Bromley sub Jamie Slabber fouled virtually every time he touched the ball.

Damien Scannell & Adam Birchall conspired to miss a chance from close range and Slabber headed wide, but in the end neither side could get that vital touch in front of goal.

The teams now have to do it all again on Tuesday night at Hayes Lane, by which time they will know who awaits in the next round.
