Joe Taylor fired home a fine second half goal to take Invicta past manager Neil Cugley’s 83 points target that should assure them of a place in the end of season play-offs.
The omens were good when midfielder Kieron McCann beat keeper Ben McNamara after 25 minutes with Jerald Aboagye and Johan Ter Horst very much involved in the build up.
Invicta have won every game that McCann has scored in since he joined them at the start of this season, and his talismanic tag was to prove true once again.
That despite a leveller by Thurrock’s Ronnie Winn on the stroke of half-time.
McCann went close again after the interval but it was last season’s top scorer Taylor who proved the match winner, finding the net 10 minutes after coming off the bench to replace Ian Draycott.
