An 85th minute Michael Malcolm header rescued a point for Bromley in this relegation battle at Ship Lane, but they could have taken more from the game if they had converted their first half chances.
Thurrock started the game well with Sam Cutler going close twice, while Bromley’s best chances fell to Anthony Thomas who should have done better with his opportunities firing wide twice and shooting straight at David Hughes after a strong run on another.
The Ravens had the bulk of the possession as the half went on, but the home side looked dangerous on the break. Thurrock’s impressive winger Ahmed Deen was twice denied by Joe Welch and Ben Hunt fired wide, while for Bromley Danny Waldren had a good free kick tipped over by Hughes and Thomas fired wide after good work from Tutu Henriques.
The second half saw Thurrock look the better side, Bromley failed to get going and a defensive slip let in David Knight who raced past Welch and slotted the ball home for 1-0 on 56mins.
The Ravens were visibly shaken by falling behind and began making mistakes all over the pitch as the home side pressed. Cutler had an effort saved, Knight blazed over when well placed and Hunt was also denied by Welch as they looked to extend their lead. Mark Goldberg made three changes just after the hour mark, but they had little effect until very late in the game when a short corner was crossed in by Ali Fuseini and Malcolm powerfully headed home into the roof of the net to secure a vital point for Bromley’s fight against relegation.
