Chris Threadgill is ready to get his season up and running over Easter Weekend as the Triumph Triple Challenge gets underway at Brands Hatch.
The Triple Challenge will once again be supporting the British Superbike Championship so Chris will be able to show his talents in front of masses of fans every weekend.
Speaking exclusively to Kent Sports News ahead of the weekend, Chris said: “I am really looking forward to the weekend. It’s my first year in the British Superbike paddock, and the Triumph Triple Challenge has proved over the last several years that it’s a really competitive, fast series attracting an international grid. After being out of the saddle for a few years, there are a few familiar names on the grid, so I’m looking forward to battling with them again.”
Chris has already been out racing at Brands Hatch this season and he hopes that this will stand him in good stead going into this weekend’s racing.
He added: “I think that because I took part in the BMCRC races at Brands Hatch last weekend will help me and the team out. We used it as an extended test day, trying out suspension settings, and managed to get some respectable lap times in despite the tricky conditions.
“However, a lot of the other racers have completed a few week long tests in Spain, and the official BSB tests at Donington Park and Snetteron last week so we should be all at the same level.”
Chris works on his own bike in his spare time and he believes that they have done everything that they can do in terms of preparation.
“The bike is ready, me and Dad have been working hard getting it all prepared ahead of the first BSB round. It’s been down to T3 Racing who organise the TTC for its eligibility checks, and it’s been kitted out with the latest in crash protection thanks to R&G Racing. We’ve changed the gearing since last weekend to give the bike better acceleration out of the corners, as we found that is where we were lacking last week at BMCRC.”
With the first races of the season being at Brands Hatch, Chris admits that he enjoys racing at his home track.
He said: “I love racing at Brands Hatch. Not just because it is my local track, but I’ve always seemed to get good results there. Something about the variety of fast direction changes and the technicality of some of the corners makes it really excited when you’re in the sweet spot.
“What with it being my local track, and it’s the long four day Easter weekend, I’ve got a good amount of people coming to cheer me on. As always, Dad won’t be far from me and the bike giving his full support which I am always grateful for.”
“Mum will be coming down to watch the races, despite the fact she doesn’t enjoy watching too much (like any Mum I guess!). Also got some friends coming down, some for one day, some for the whole weekend. The good thing with the TTC is that it is partnered with Ace Café, and as such we have some great hospitality on offer to guests and sponsors that come to watch the action.
“I’m looking for a strong weekend results wise, finishing in the points of the main championship would be a mega start to the season, but I’m also aware of how fast some of the more experienced guys are this year.”
“In the cup championship for newcomers to BSB, which I race in, I’d really love to get a podium in front of all my family and friends. It would also help to potentially attract some sponsorship for the season to help out with the costs.”
