As the season gets into full flow it’s another full set of fixtures for Kent’s teams this weekend.
Kent Sports News have five featured games this weekend and the first of these comes from Hayes Lane where in-form Bromley host struggling Hartlepool. The hosts welcome the North East team to the county in the hopes of repeating their midweek 6-1 victory over Leyton Orient. You can read our full preview of the match here.
Elsewhere in the National League Ebbsfleet will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they travel to Maidenhead. The Fleet travelled to York Road late last season and nearly salvaged their hopes of an automatic promotion with a 2-1 win but were forced to go up via the playoffs instead. Daryl McMahon’s side will, much like last season, need to keep an eye on Dave Tarpey- the Maidenhead striker already has seven goals to his name this season.
Maidstone are also in action at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday afternoon when Wrexham travel to the South East. The Stones still haven’t won yet this season and they’ll be hoping for that to change against the 10th places Welsh club. There’s been a boost for Jay Saunders side this week- West Ham youth player Zavon Hines has signed for the club and could be available on Saturday.
Finally in the top division of non-league football, Dover Athletic host Barrow on Saturday knowing a win will keep then within the early high flyers in the league. Currently sitting third in the table, Chris Kinnear’s men have won three of their opening four games and could follow up a 2-1 win at Halifax in midweek with their fourth victory of the season.
Our featured game in the National League South this weekend comes from Welling where the Wings will look to break out of their run of two consecutive draws when they host Hungerford. You can read out full preview ahead of their game here.
The other game of note in the Southern portion of the National League South somes from Princes Park. Dartford welcome Oxford City to the north of the county looking to continue their unbeaten start to 2017-18. Despite not losing in their first four matches, Tony Burman’s side sit in 11th, having recorded three draws so far.
Moong further down the pyramid, Margate will play their second competitive match on Hartsdown Park’s new 3G pitch in front of KSN on Saturday. Having recorded one win and one draw in their opening two games, a win in this weekend’s game against Leiston could rocket Steve Watt’s side up the table.
Elsewhere in the Bostik Premier, Folkestone Invicta travel to Burgess Hill town in search of their second win from three games after an identical start to the season to Margate whilst Tonbridge- who are also on four points- host Brightlingsea Regent.
There are also some local sides in the FA Cup preliminary round this weekend and KSN will be covering two of the ties. We’ll be following Thamesmead Town’s trip to East Preston of the Southern Counties League and we’ll also be seeing how Sheppey United fare against Hastings at the Havill Stadium.
With these ties happening, there’s no league football at the fourth tier this weekend. Elsewhere in the world’s oldest knockout competition, Hythe travel to Corinthian Casuals and Faversham make the trip to Croydon. Elsewhere VCD Athletic and Sittingbourne travel to East Grinstead and Pagham respectively whilst Rasgate host Hanworth Villa and Ashford United travel to Surrey to face Redhill. Phoenix Sports are also away to Steyning Town.
The cup action continues on the Sunday with Cray vs Sevenoaks whilst Herne Bay welcome Chessington and Hook United to the coastal town.
