This weekend’s football fixtures see plenty of opportunities for Kent’s teams to progress in the league whilst the hope of cup glory also continues for many.
All the county’s sides in the FA Trophy this weekend will be looking to progress to the first round proper and it’s Margate who will be the favourites to go through. The Thanet side haven’t lost over all competitions since October 17th and face Egham Town of the Evo Stik South at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
Cray Wanders also remain in the knockout competition, but they’ll face a more difficult challenge this weekend when they cross the Thames into Essex to face Braintree Town.
The final two matches involving Kent’s teams come from Park View Road- where Welling host follow National League South side Weston Super Mare and Dartford travel to Brentwood Town of the Evo Stik North.
Back to league action, and it’s a big weekend in the National League this weekend. Maidstone will be looking to get back to winning ways after their 4-0 loss against Boreham Wood in midweek when they travel north to face Tranmere. Five points separate the two sides with the Stones in the final playoff position and the Merseyside club languishing in mid table.
Another side looking to shake off their midweek result are Ebbsfleet United who suffered a disappointing loss to Woking on Tuesday night. They welcome Hartlepool to Stonebridge Road knowing a win will get them above their North East opponents in the table.
Dover also tasted defeat on Tuesday night when they lost 1-0 at Dagenham and Redbridge. They return to Crabble this weekend to face Fylde, a side who currently occupy a stable mid table position. Three points on Saturday afternoon could put them top of the National League again.
After Bromley’s game was postponed due to floodlight failure this week, they have a game in hand over the teams around them. This weekend they make the long trip to struggling Barrow knowing victory could send them as high as fifth.
Due to the Trophy fixtures, there are no games in either the National League South or Bostik Premier this weekend, with fixtures in both beginning again on Tuesday night.
There is however, a full schedule in the Bostik South where the standout game comes from Woodstock Sports Ground where Sittingbourne host Corinthian Casuals in a 7th vs 2nd matchup. A win for the hosts would bring the gap between the two clubs to within five points of each other.
Elsewhere in the league, Faversham host South Park, Hythe travel to Horsham whilst Ramsgate are also on the road to play Molesey.
Ashford United aren’t in action as they were set to face Cray but Herne Bay are in action and they host East Grinstead Town whist Thamesmead welcome Carshalton to Kent.
The weekend’s action comes to an end in the top four divisions with VCD Athletic vs Shoreham in the north of the county.
