After an eventful set of midweek fixtures, Kent’s teams return to weekend action on Saturday.
Following a disappointing 3-1 loss at Swindon, Gillingham take to the road again on Saturday when they travel to Bury. The North West side sit one place and one point above the Gills in the League One table. The visitors will be without left back Paul Konchesky who moved to Billericay Town this week.
In the top level of non-league Dover Athletic will look to stay in the playoff places when they host Solihull Moors. Mid table Solihull have struggled for consistent form of late and Chris Kinnear’s side will be hoping for another three points.
At the other end of the table Maidstone United host Southport. The stones haven’t lost since February 4th and their fight for safety may be helped further with a win over a side just two places below them.
Elsewhere, one of KSN’s featured games of the weekend comes from Boreham Wood where Bromley travel to on Saturday afternoon. You can read a full preview of the game here.
We have two featured matches from the National League South this weekend; the first of these is at Stonebridge Road where we’ll see if Ebbsfleet are able to maintain top spot in the table. They host East Thurrock on a poignant day for the club as it’s the first home game since the news that club legend Paul McCarthy passed away.
We’ll also be on the road with Welling for their game at struggling Whitehawk. The north Kent side still need the points as they aren’t yet out of the relegation picture. You can read a full preview of the game here.
In the National League South’s promotion push, Dartford host Bath on Saturday knowing that a win will continue to secure their third place standing.
Margate’s poor run of form continued this week with a 2-0 loss against Chelmsford. For their game against Concord Rangers on Saturday they’ve bought in two new players, former Maidstone defender Ben Swift and striker Pape Gueye have both joined the Thanet club whilst Harrison Bennet leaves the club to return from his loan spell at Reading.
Moving further down the Pyramid, we’ll also be at Tonbridge Angels vs Needham Market. Playoff chasing Angels team face a tough match against their fourth placed opponents but they’ll be boosted after securing the futures of George Bevan and Alex Akrofi. This week both players signed new contracts keeping them at Longmead until the end of next season.
Elsewhere in the Ryman Premier Folkestone Invicta travel to struggling AFC Sudbury who are desperate for points to keep them away from a relegation scrap.
Our final featured game this weekend will cover Thamesmead’s trip to Soham Town. The Mead comfortably sit in mid table whilst their hosts on Saturday are flirting with the relegation places. Elsewhere VCD host bottom of the table Wroxham.
In the southern portion of the Ryman League one of the major stories is at Chatham Town where they will be remembering club icon Bobby Harrison. Last weekend marked the 30 year anniversary of his death and the club will be hosting a reunion of players and staff from Harrison’s era. This will happen ahead of their game against Horsham.
Hythe Town are the only Kent team with promotion hopes in the Ryman South. They currently sit in 6th and travel to the Dripping Pan to face Lewes on Saturday. Other games from within the league include Cray vs Walton Casuals, Favrsham vs Molesey, Herne Bay vs East Grinstead Town, Ramsgate vs Hastings and Sittingbourne vs Godalming Town.
