A great, FREE, family sports event, The Mason Mile is coming to Maidstone on Sunday 9th June with lots for all the family to take part in.
The Mason Mile, a Kent based family wellbeing-charity that encourages individuals and families to become more active, have confirmed its next event will be in Mote Park, Maidstone, on Sunday 9th June from 10am to 2pm with mile long races commencing every 30 minutes from 11am.
The family event is FREE to attend, with a variety of activities planned throughout the day and prizes handed out to everyone that takes part.
The Mason Mile event is aimed at everyone, of all age groups and capabilities, encouraging them to participate in exercise which can help lead to a more active lifestyle.
The one-mile activity helps to bring together those that take part in regular exercise and those that would like to do more but are unsure of how or where to start. The event shows how easy and simple it is to start exercising, even if it is just getting outside and walking the dog.
Stephen Mason, Founder of the Mason Mile said: “We are encouraging families and individuals across the South-East to become more active, starting with the simple premise of walking, jogging or running a mile. We have received fantastic support from local schools, Kent County Council, housing associations, businesses and health organisations, and now we can start a programme of free local Mason Miles, a regular initiative held at locations in and around Maidstone.”
The upcoming event in Maidstone is supported by Wellbeing People and Golding Vision, the community arm of housing association Golding Homes. Wellbeing People will be offering free health checks and healthy snacks to all who take part and, for the first time ever the Mason Mile will be hosting its own Pet Show, taking place at 1pm.
The Mason Foundation is engaging with local schools to encourage and motivate pupils to take part, with an incentive of £250 sports equipment grant awarded to the school with the best attendance.
