When Bromley FC failed to win the 2018 FA Trophy final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out few Bromley fans would have volunteered to relive the event anytime soon. However Bromley born author Dave Roberts has done exactly that with his latest book ‘The long, long road to Wembley’.

Telling the story of his 50 year dream to see Bromley FC at Wembley, Dave Roberts has added yet another classic book to his now trilogy covering Bromley FC.

Having seen his previous book The Bromley Boys made into a feature film with its film premiere at Wembley four days after the Trophy final as well as the successful release of Home and Away, a book that charted Bromley’s inaugural season in the National League as well as Dave’s return to England.

Dave Roberts will see his latest release launched at Waterstones in Bromley at 7.00pm on August 22nd. As well as signing copies personally, Dave will be part of a Q&A session with Bromley manager Neil Smith and Bromley captain Jack Holland.

Speaking to KSN ahead of the launch event, Dave was keen to point out his satisfaction with his fifth book.

“I’m really looking forward to the launch as I’m more excited about this book than any of the previous ones. It should be a great evening and I encourage football fans, no matter allegiance. to come down and enjoy it”.

The book itself was crowd-funded as Dave teamed up with Unbound publishers to launch a campaign to have the costs of the book covered, this was achieved and then some as Dave attracted contributions from far and wide.

With rave reviews from football journalists such as Miguel Delaney (Independent) “reminds us what the game is really all about’ and John Cross (Daily Mirror) ‘every football fan will enjoy this’ the launch event is likely to be standing room only.
