The fifth KSN day of Christmas with Neil Cugley
The fifth KSN day of Christmas with Neil Cugley

In the lead up to Christmas, KSN’s football editor Mike Green has been talking to some of the county’s bosses armed with a series of Festive Season based questions.

And so, on ”the fifth KSN day of Christmas”, it’s the countys’ longest serving manager – “Kent’s Golden boss” – Greenie’s been talking to Folkestone Invicta’s Neil Cugley…

KSN – What’s you earliest Christmas memory?

NEIL CUGLEY – watching Tottehnam playing in white shirts in black & white.

KSN – What’s your best Christmas football memory?

NC – beating Dover in 2004 and I also have to mention the 8-0 win over Hythe in 2011.

KSN – And what’s your worst?

NC –  losing at Hythe last Christmas, although I might add that we did not lose another game all season.

KSN – What’s the best or worst football based present you’ve ever been given or received?

NC – Some of the players that I have signed around this time of year might fall into both categories!

KSN – What d’you think of Christmas football?

NC – I have always really enjoyed it both as a player and as a manager with the big crowds and good atmospheres.

KSN – If you were preparing a “Mid-term” School report on Folkestone’s season so far, what grade would you give the side and why?

NC –  A+ – they have been excellent.

KSN – Who’s your teams Player of 2016?

NC – Ronnie Dolan.

KSN – Is there a player you’ve seen either live or on TV who’s really excited you in 2016?

NC –  Coutinho of Liverpool.

KSN – What do you hope your players have for Christmas dinner?

NC –  turkey.

KSN – What’s your hope for football in general in 2017?

NC –  that it continues its great development as it has progressed no end.

KSN – If your Chairman could buy you one player as a Christmas present who would it be and why?

NC – Coutinho so that we would have a stronger substitutes bench!

KSN – Finally your Festive message for the Folkestone fans?

NC – Thank you to all of them for getting behind the club so well both on and off the pitch. Without them, we would not be where we are and not in such a solid position.

Many thanks to Neil for joining in our series and a very Merry Christmas to him and everyone at Folkestone Invicta – join us again tomorrow to see who is the featured boss on the penultimate ”KSN day of Christmas!”
