A 20 man Charlton squad – including new signing Lyle Taylor, youngsters George Lapslie and Taylor Maloney, as well as Chris Solly, flew out of Gatwick to Portugal on Sunday.

The Addicks will be there until Friday, before returning to England ahead of their first warm up game on Saturday.

The game will be played behind-closed-doors, against Queens Park Rangers at the west Londoners’ training ground at Harlington.

Lee Bowyer sees the trip to Portugal as an important bonding exercise, as well as raising fitness levels and sharpness.

In an interview with Valley Pass last week, Bowyer seemed to indicate that young Australian shot stopper, Ashley Maynard-Brewer, would be providing the cover to Dillon Phillips this season.

The season kicks-off against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday 4 August.
