Bexley Borough derby honours went to Thamesmead Town with victory over local rivals Welling United.Thamesmead Town

Town’s preparations for life in the Ryman Premier were given a boost with a resounding 3-0 victory over the Wings who are getting ready for the Conference Premier.

Jamie Day’s Wings started the better as Kurtis Guthrie (twice), Callum Webb and Jack Obersteller all came close.

The hosts showed they could be dangerous, even against the run of play when Callum Meghan headed wide of the far post from Chris Edward’s corner.

Jake Gallagher shot wide as Welling failed to claim the goal their first period performance deserved.

A multitude of substitutions by both sides seemed of greater benefit to the hosts who broke the deadlock three minutes into the second period courtesy of a delightful curler by Baff Addae.

Seven minutes later, Fairweather-Johnson punished his former club by powering home a close range header.

Only a shot just over by Malik Ouani and a Webb thunderbolt that came back off the framework of the goal threatened the hosts and another ex-Wing, Jon Main, added a third for Thamesmead in the final minute
