Thamesmead Town 2-0 Wingate & Finchley
Two goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half in the end were decisive as the Mead ran out winners in their first warm up game against division from a higher level as Wingate & Finchley finished a well beaten side on the SCT’s 4G.

After an entertaining but score less opening half in which the visitors enjoyed their best period of the game early on, the Mead scored twice in the opening ten minutes of the second half.

First Jack Barry turned home a near post corner before Tyrus Gordon-Young raced onto a clearance from Faria Hallam to out pace a defender to beat keeper Gavin King from the edge of the box.

“A good work out against a Ryman Premier side who I’d expect would finish comfortably in mid table,” was Terry’s reaction at the end of the game.

“It was a good measuring stick for us and we’re playing some good passing football at the moment and we deserved the win. We played some good passing stuff – the best was the lead up for the first goal.”

“We mixed things up again today. It’s very difficult at the moment as anyone we’re including are doing pretty well. We’re still experimenting with the shape a little bit – two different shapes today – in general I think that if we were actually to be kicking off Tuesday in the League rather than our next friendly, we’d know our starting eleven.”

“That said, Tuesday will be another test as Grays will be different again as they will be strong and physical and it will be a stern test as pre season gets harder and harder which is exactly what we wanted. And we’re back on grass which will be nice…!”

Mead – Andy Walker, Ade Osifuwa, Tommy Spillane, Russell Pond (Baff Addae), Jack Berry, Chris Webber (George Benner), Bode Anidugbe (Ainsley Elliott), Richard Butler (Farai Hallam), Nathan Karantang (Tyrus Gordon-Young), Michael Uwezu (Kyle Asanti), Jay Porter (Paul Burnett)
