Team Hard confirm British GT pairing

Rochester based Team Hard racing and reigning British GT4 champions have confirmed today that Howard Fuller and Sam Webster will team up in one of its Ginetta G55 GT4s for 2017.

They will compete under the banner of Autoaid/RCIB Insurance Racing and are the first of the Team Hard entries to be announced for the coming campaign.

24-year-old Fuller is no stranger to Team HARD having previously contested the British Touring Car Championship and VW Racing Cup with the  squad.

Speaking about the opportunity, Fuller said: “After getting a feel of the car and a taste of what British GT is all about, I am very excited to press on with the New Year and get out on the track.

“I’m very keen to be working with new people, namely my team-mate Sam Webster, a young up-and-coming talent. Sam is filled with good positive vibes and we both have the same strong motives. Our eyes are focused on the top step.

“Racing is a long passion of mine and I’m pleased that I can continue working with team boss Tony Gilham after so many years working with him and the team through VW Cup and BTCC. It’s just a bonus that we share the same passion and have built a great working and personal relationship over the years.”

Webster, meanwhile, made his British GT debut alongside Fox Motorsport’s Jamie Stanley at 2016’s Donington Park season finale after winning several GT Cup rounds aboard a similar Ginetta G55 to the one he’ll be racing this term.

However, 2017 still marks the 20-year-old former karting champion’s first full year of car racing after graduating from world and domestic karting at the end of 2015.

He said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with Team HARD in 2017. Having had a taste of what British GT is all about last year at the last round, I can’t wait to get started this season in my first full season of car racing. I know just how tough the task ahead will be but I am confident in my abilities as well as Howard’s and Team HARD’s.

“Tony is one of the most passionate racers I have ever met, his hunger and desire to win is infectious and it spreads throughout the team. Having raced at a high level himself he knows what is needed to succeed and I look forward to working with and learning from him over the year.

“I am also very excited to race with Howard this season; despite being only a few years my senior he has a huge amount of experience in a range of cars and I will be looking to form a strong working relationship pre-season to ensure we work as efficiently as possible, both together and with the team as a whole.

“With [former British GT race winner] Adam Wilcox involved as well I feel that this is a truly fantastic chance to fight for the drivers’ title as well as doing our bit to ensure the teams’ title remains with the team for a second season.”

Team Hard are expected to make further driver announcements in the coming weeks.
