Team Hard have today announced the first driver pairing for their entry into the British GT Championship this season, and it is a quick line-up.
Jordan Stilp and William Phillips will be behind the wheel of the Team Hard Ginetta G55 in the GT4 program, the first of the two cars the team will be running in the series in 2016.
Better still for the team, Stilp and Phillips are good friends and ready to embrace this new challenge as they share the wheel of the Ginetta.
Speaking about the opportunity, Phillips said: “I’m looking forward to a challenging season ahead. There’s a lot to learn with a new car and a new team, but I’m massively excited to be working alongside Tony Gilham and Team Hard.
“To have a team mate I’ve known my whole life is also a massive advantage. We may be a new team entering the British GT but we’re going to compete for the title this year. I’d like to thank my sponsors Magic Plastic for giving me this opportunity.”
Phillips raced in the Mini Challenge coming fourth in the championship during the 2015 season, while Stilp has competed in the Renault UK Clio Cup Championship since 2013.
Stilp is already familiar with how it feels like to be behind the wheel of a Ginetta, having raced in the GT4 Supercup, picking up a podium.
Giving his thoughts ahead of the move to the British GT, he said: “Really looking forward to this year working with Tony Gillham and Team Hard in what will be an exciting championship in the British GT.
“In 2015 I had the opportunity to do the last two rounds of the BTCC Ginetta support series, which was fantastic for me as I managed to pull out a P2 and fastest lap on my first outing. I am really looking forward to see what we can bring to the table in terms of podiums, that’s what I will be aiming for all the way.”
The second driver pairing will be announced shortly and team boss Tony Gilham is excited for what will hopefully be a successful season ahead.
He said: “It’s great being able to bring two cars into such a competitive series and we’ve got four very quick drivers who will be taking to the track. The dynamic between Stilp and Phillips is fantastic as they’ve been friends for years, we’re all eager to see what they can do.”
