On Sunday, the Kent SLYDE Kings completed their Travel Plus Tours National League [TPTNL] regular fixture programme with another away win – this time by 49-40 at the highest track in the country, Hi Edge Raceway – the home conversely, of the lowest positioned side in the league, bottom club Buxton Hitmen.

Limbering up this may have been for the greater challenges ahead (with the likelihood of both of the next two home matches being major competition semi-finals), but a Kent vs. Lakeside clash is always going to have a fiercely competitive edge and so it proved as the visiting Hammers retained the Tunnel Trophy by a score of 49 points to 41 at Central Park Stadium on Monday.

Three maximums (two full and one moral!) and the three points needed to keep on track for the top four with some fastest times set by a number of the Kings’ outfit, all added up to a successful evening’s work at Central Park Stadium on Monday, as the reigning champions effectively surrendered their Travel Plus Tours National League title when Kent beat Belle Vue by 53 points to 36.
