Aldershot Town vs Bromley – Preview

Following on from Bromley’s wind effected 3-3 draw at home to Torquay United on Saturday, The Ravens travel to Aldershot Town tonight for their fourth National League game of the season.

Neil Smith’s side have won one and drawn two matches so far and sit in seventh place, while their hosts have one win to their name and two defeats, with only a single goal margin in all three games.

Bromley’s draw with Torquay United at the weekend saw the lead change three times and all of the goals came from set pieces with Jack Holland, Joe Kizzi and Frankie Raymond finding the net for The Ravens.

Neil Smith was disappointed with the second half performance against Torquay as his side let a 2-1 half time lead slip having to be indebted to a Raymond equaliser to rescue a point.

Ahead of the Aldershot encounter, Neil Smith was keen to stress the need for his side to up the ante

“It’ll be a difficult game vs Aldershot but our first focus is to be better than we were against Torquay. We’re unbeaten in three games and after the start we had last season this is an improvement, however there are a few things we’ll need to work on to be right against Aldershot”.

Aldershot received a reprieve from relegation last season following Gateshead’s close season problems and they will be looking to make the most of their good fortune.

When the sides met last season in September The Shots won 3-2, while the game at Hayes Lane ended 2-2 in April.

The home side have former Bromley striker Shamir Mullings playing upfront in a much changed squad from last season.

On Saturday The Shots lost 2-1 at Solihull Moors, a result that left them in fifteenth place.

This should be a close fought entertaining encounter between two sides who have been familiar foes since Aldershot re-formed in the early 90s.
