Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed that Matt Symonds has re-joined the club ahead of the 2024/25 season, becoming Kwan Browne’s fifth addition of the summer.
Symonds spent time with Holcombe six years ago and is now set to re-join ahead of an exciting campaign, Browne’s first in charge.
He has six goals in 15 indoor caps for the Black Sticks and was recently involved in New Zealand’s Oceania Indoor World Cup Qualifier, where his side were narrowly beaten 2-1 in a three-match series by Australia.
On joining the club, Symonds said: “I’m incredibly excited to be re-joining Holcombe, after a short (six-year) hiatus back home in New Zealand.
“The squad is looking in good shape with some familiar faces and some strong new signings.
“Kwan has a fantastic reputation and I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing what we can achieve.”
Head Coach and Director of Hockey Browne added: “Matt has several years of both international and Premier Division experience, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge that will be extremely valuable to the squad.”
