Buckmore Park hosted the final round of the six event series, which it shares alternately with Bayford Meadows last weekend, with the weather staying fine and bright throughout.
Six championship classes were to be decided on the day
Honda Cadet
With next month seeing the prestigious ABKC ‘O’ Plate event at Buckmore, interest in the Cadet class was very high, with all the competitors wanting a chance to win some of the fantastic prizes on offer along with the coveted ‘0’ Plate.
Qualifying and the two pre-finals produced many lead changes with anyone of up to a dozen karts in with a chance of winning, but in the end it was Myles Apps who held off the close attentions of Nicholas Reeves, Zak Rogers, Alex Lloyd and the ever present Luke Whitehead to take the win. Myles is the current holder of the ‘O’ Plate, so it seems that his preparations to regain the title are going very well.
Results.
1st Myles Apps – Zip.
2nd Nicholas Reeve – Project One.
3rd Zak Rogers – Project One.
Honda Clubman & IAME
The class for the Clubman Cadet was once again very well supported at Buckmore Park. It was George Leeves who dominated once the racing began after Ryhs Anthony had looked one of the favourites in qualifying. Behind Leeves in the final was a cracking fight over second place in which Owen Tolley proved victorious, from Oliver Bennett, Sam Heading and a bemused Anthony in fifth, who was left wondering how his early pace had deserted him.
Just two IAME karts ran along with the Clubman class, in the pre-finals they had ran from the same grid, but for the final it was decided to let them race ahead, this proved disastrous for Rashan Chigorimbo, as he was left on the line as the Union Flag dropped, leaving Sam Shaw to romp to victory.
Results.
1st George Leeves – Project One.
2nd Owen Tolley – Project One.
3rd Oliver Bennett – Project One.
Mini Max
The Mini Max class was a one man race once Tyler Sullivan had recovered from his poor standing start from the pole slot, which saw him slip down to eight place, his Evolution team mate Ronnie Foster finished a fine second with pre-final two winner Charlie Bennett finishing in third.
1st Tyler Sullivan – Alonso.
2nd Ronnie Foster – Alonso.
3rd Charlie Bennett – TonyKart.
Junior Max
Will Heasman and Jonathan Wilkes were the stars of the juniors, with the latter, Wilkes coming out on top in the final, Sam Baker finished third.
1st Jonathan Wilkes – TonyKart.
2nd Will Heasman – TonyKart.
Senior Max
A late coming together between leader Elliot Rice and Tom Prior at the second hairpin, gifted the win to a delighted Kit Brough who had been shadowing the pair up to that point in the Senior Max class. Brough went home with the Phil Whorlow shield, along with his trophy and garland, although he never quite made it to the presentation!
1st Kit Brough – Kosmic.
2nd Tom Prior – TonyKart.
Junior Subaru
A cracking dice ensued between Chandler Horsfield and eventual final winner Max Goodwin, this lasted until the last lap when Horsfield attempted to go around the outside of Goodwin at turn one, it ended in tears as Max had not seen Chandler there and squeezed him out into the marbles, causing him to half spin. He recovered to finish fifth with Nathan Jefferey inheriting the second place.
1st Max Goodwin.
2nd Nathan Jefferey.
3rd Jake Paice.
