Burnley are making a good fist of their return to the Premier League. The Clarets are comfortably above the relegation zone and look set for another season in the top-flight.
Sean Dyche’s side are hard working and have tremendous spirit. Dyche raided The Valley for Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Nick Pope in the summer.
Pope is mainly used in Cup games, but Gudmundsson has been a regular in Burnley’s Premier League match day squad.
And if the Claret’s do survive, Charlton will also benefit. It is believed Gudmundsson’s deal included a clause to pay the Addicks a substantial sum if Burnley avoided relegation.
Charlton could also benefit from a possible transfer. The Addicks negotiated a sell on clause when Carl Jenkinson joined Arsenal in the summer of 2011.
Jenkinson could sign for West Ham on a permanent basis before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
There has been speculation about Nicky Ajose’s future. He has become a peripheral figure since Karl Robinson’s arrival, and does not seem ideally suited to the manager’s preferred system.
But Robinson seemed to give the striker some hope:
“There will always be speculation about the likes of Nicky Ajose when he is not playing.
“There has been a few clubs who have phoned me about his availability. Right now I’m not sure if it is right for us.
“It might be right for him, but it has to be right for Charlton Athletic. It’s a decision I have to take. Nicky has not done anything wrong. I fancy other strikers before him at this moment in time.
“He understands that as well, he totally takes that on board,” said Robinson.
