Strong weekend for Jamun at Donington

Rochester based Jamun racing fared better in the Sunday races of the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.JUan Rosso2

Rookie Juan Rosso in his first race weekend with the team after a pre-season injury finished second in the second race of the weekend.

He took the second position from Harrison Scott in the closing stages of the race to ensure that he followed up his fourth in race one.

Teammate Nico Maranzana made sure it was a solid start to Sunday by bringing his Mygale home in fourth place.

Once again Dan Cammish was the man to beat as he led from the off and streaked off into the distance underlining just how much raw pace he has in his car. He has now won all five of the opening races of the season.

Speaking after race two, Juan said: “It was an interesting race. The start was nice, the car was perfect. I made it up to third and thought ‘OK, I stay here…’ but after that I thought maybe I could try for second, so I did, although my tyres were not so good by then.”

Luke Williams unfortunately lost several laps in the pits with technical issues but he did net a solitary championship point by virtue of the fact he set the fastest lap time during the race.

In race two it was Maranzana who got off the line the better of the three Jamun cars holding his second place.

Williams and Rosso ended up battling among themselves on the first lap before both of them overtook Harrison Scott after he made a mistake.

There was a racing incident between Halminen and Williams as they battled for fourth position, with Maranzana in second and Rosso in fourth place.

Williams dropped to fifth with Harrison Scott in front of him, and it wasn’t long before the Sam Brabham and Fred Martin-Dye were right up on their tails. Eventually Williams got past Scott after he made a mistake.

As the race entered the closing stages and with Cammish nailed on for his second hat trick of wins in the season, the action turned to the battle for third.

Williams was the man on the move and he chased down his teammate Maranzana to try and get himself onto the podium for the first time in the race weekend. Unfortunately he couldn’t find a way past and settled for fourth place.

Meaning that it was the most successful race of the season so far for Jamun as their cars came home in second, third and fourth.

Speaking after the race Williams said: ““That was a bit better. I got held up for a long time by Halminen and Scott, and I had a lot of understeer, as well as a lack of speed down the straights. I’m really struggling.”

The action continues in two weeks’ time as the action heads to Thruxton as part of the British Touring Car race weekends.
