Stringer upset by Welling defeat

Scott Wilson scored the only goal as Bath City inflicted Welling United’s third league defeat in Rod Stringer’s twenty match tenure leaving the boss upset.

After the match, Stringer was clearly upset with some of the officiating that went against his team, but not with the commitment or the work rate of his players.

“I was disappointed with the result, not disappointed with the performance.” he said.

“I felt first half we could’ve been a little bit brighter and a bit better, at times, with the ball. I was disappointed with the goal that we conceded. I don’t think that he should have got the cross in and the ball’s dropped in and Chiori (Johnson)’s allowed him to turn him and he’s scored from it.”

“We had chances in the first half as well.” Stringer continued.

“Reece (Grant) had a couple of really good chances that he never scored so we got into them at half time and I think that you only really saw one side out here. I thought we were outstanding.”

“On another day we win this game. Did we play better second half? Yes. Did we create some chances? Yes. Did we deserve a draw? Yes. Could we have won it? Yes.”

“I’m proud of my boys, I’m proud of my players. I thought they went to the end. I thought they gave everything they could. We kept trying to push and push. We were better down the hill, second half.”

“We definitely deserved something out of this game. In the second half they got backed up other than their little counter here and there. We’ll have to take it on the chin.”
