Striker arrives at The Valley

Guy Luzon alluded to the likelihood of a new arrival in the near future at his press conference on Thursday.

The arrival materialised on Monday afternoon when 23-year-old Everton striker, Conor McAleny,  signed for a two month loan stint The Valley.

McAleny is Liverpool born and has made a couple of substitute appearances for the Toffees, and has also had loan spells at Scunthorpe, Brentford and most recently Cardiff. McAleny made six starts and two substitute appearances towards the end of last season for the Bluebirds.

He scored in Cardiff’s win at Rotherham and their draw at Reading and is highly regarded at Goodison,  signing a new three-year deal in July of last year.

With Igor Vetokele not yet back to his best, a goal scorer will be a welcome addition for Luzon.

McAleny has signed an initial deal until 7 November. There are no Championship games on 14 November, so it could be that the Addicks will resign him prior to the Birmingham game on 21 November. Such a move would allow the player to be available for all matches until the New Year.
