The Invicta Dynamos produced a significantly improved performance in South London on Saturday than in the NIHL Southern Cup Final the week before but goals from Tomas Banovsky and Richard Harris were still not enough to prevent a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Streatham in the league.

The Mos made the journey to the capital minus Brandon Webster, Tommy Ralph, Matt Foord, Taylor Chard, Billy Phillips, Juraj Huska and Joshua Condren. Ben Clements stood in net for the visitors whilst Tom Annetts was his opposite number at the other end of the ice.

In the opening period Streatham lit the lamp at 06.22 – Ryan Watt and Thomas Beesley linking up before Samuel Waller fired in the first of the night to make it 1-0. The Mos had two powerplays including a short 5-on-3 but were unable nullify that lead and the hosts made them pay at 16.25 – Andrew Cook and Ben Paynter claiming assists as Danny Ingoldsby beat Ben Clements for 2-0.

A roughing minor on Harrison Lillis looked to have given Streatham the chance to extend that edge yet further but the visitors actually replied whilst shorthanded – Arran Strawson setting Tomas Banovsky in alone and he beat Tom Annetts to end the period at 2-1.

The Dynamos faced 24 shots in the opening frame whilst offering just nine but it was a more even second frame in terms of chances created. Nevertheless the hosts started the period with two quick goals – the first came at 22.24 when Scott Bailey teed up Danny Ingoldsby for his second of the evening. The second followed at 25.39 as Conner Smith and Thomas Beesley exchanged passes setting up space for Ivan Antonov to finish and make it 4-1. In danger of falling out of sight the Mos mustered a reply at 29.22 – Richard Harris going it alone and beating Tom Annetts to leave it all to play for going into the last.

In the final period Streatham effectively nullified the game immediately with three goals in less than three minutes. At 40.42 Ivan Antonov and Milique Martelly claimed assists when Ryan Watt added his name to the list of scorers for 5-2. It was then 6-2 at 41.58 – James Warman and Scott Bailey involved in the build-up that allowed Ben Paynter to find the target for his first of the evening. Paynter then made it a brace at 42.52 with what would turn out to be the final goal of the night – Michael Farn with the pass that teed him up.

Streatham commanded much of the period and outshot their visitors 27-7 but they were unable to add anymore to their tally as Ben Clements stood firm.
