The first of two league games on the road over the weekend ended with loss in London to Streatham.
Invicta were missing key roster personnel including both netminders in Damien King and James Richardson and skaters Nicky Lewis, Adam McNicoll and Mason Webster who was carrying a two game ban from the previous weekend. The referee was Blaine Evans, who seems to be a permanent feature at Dynamos games of recent,
Ashley Jackson clipped the outside of the post early into the game with the Dynamos looking to creep ahead first. However, Streatham were the first team off the mark despite the best efforts of Invicta netminder Jon Dibble. Saving a double shot on 5:35, he was helpless to prevent a third in coming shot from Liam Rasmussen who maybe should have been picked-up from a marker.
Vaclav Drabek was called for a minor penalty on 6:12 providing the Dynamos with a powerplay opportunity which despite an Arran Strawson shot that was saved well by Matt Colclough and his fellow defencemen held out to keep the scoreline at 1-0. Colclough was on hand after the powerplay to save from Bailey Wootton who seized upon a loose puck but fired straight under the nose of the netminder. A further powerplay against Adam Wood was successfully defended again by the home side to end the period at 1-0 to Streatham.
The Dynamos were the busier of the two sides in the second period. Adam Rehak skipped around Drabek and had a shot saved by Colclough before the netminder was called into action again to deny Osman who found space after a one-two with Fowler. Against the run of play Streatham doubled their lead on 24:14, Callum Best skating the length of the pad to slot into the bottom corner of Dibble’s net.
Another penalty against Adam Wood was not taken advantage from by the Mo’s but a further penalty against Ryan Giles for goaltender interference was on 30:16 – Tommy Ralph’s blue line drive saved but Ashley Jackson on hand for 2-1 in favour of the home side.
Elliott Dewey done well to deny Sean Scarborough a certain goal on 35 minutes by diving to block the puck. With the second period closing out Adam Wood paid another visit to the penalty box, this time receiving a 2+10 for checking from behind.
The third period started with a penalty on 40.27 for Warman who received two minutes for boarding producing another powerplay for the Dynamos – another of which went unpunished. Callum Best went on the attack shortly afterwards sweeping to the crease for Scarbrough but Dibble had to make a big save to keep the deficit at one goal. Invicta’s first and only penalty didn’t arrive until 45:30, the frustrated Callum Fowler and Streatham’s Fisher getting called for a minor by referee Blaine Evans for exchanging shoves. Dibble kept the Dynamos in the game, pulling-off saves from Scarbrough and Norcliffe whilst at the other end Colclough denied Condren and then a clever flick from Jackson as the game started to closeout.
Invicta coach Kevin Parrish pulled netminder Dibble after a timeout with only 1:39 left on the clock – and the gambled didn’t pay-off with Streatham scoring an empty net goal to complete a 3-1 win.
