Streatham 1-5 Invicta Dynamos

The Invicta Dynamos bounced back from last Sunday’s defeat with a convincing victory in Streatham.

Streatham

The Dynamos were injury hit, missing 5 players in Callum Fowler, Steve Osman, Brothers Taylor and Bailey Wootton and Ashley Jackson. Making his debut was returnee Adam McNicoll. Guarding opposing goals were brothers Euan and Damien King.

When Harrison Lillis was penalised for high sticks early in the game the Dynamos had to defend a powerplay which they done well to only reduce Streatham to one meaningful shot, that coming via Jack Tarczcki. After 6 minutes the Dynamos were on the attack, Elliott Dewey dinking a shot into the middle with Adam Rehak just touching it wide.

A half chance for the home side in Joe Johnston was easily dealt with as the Mo’s switched play at the other end with Adam McNicoll and Ondrei Zosiak both having chances that Euan King saved. The turning point in the first period came when ex-Dynamo Jack Lee was given two penalty minutes for boarding defender Tommy Ralph. The resulting powerplay saw Adam Rehak put the Mo’s one nil to the good when he scrambled a shot past King thanks to assists from Redmond and Lewis on 17:31.

The Dynamos started the brighter at the start of the second period, McNicoll firing wide before Arran Strawson cross checked Joe Allen to give Streatham a powerplay. With Streatham applying the pressure Damien King was on guard to save a Ryan Giles shot through a crowd of bodies.  With the Dynamos breathing a sigh of relief from seeing out the powerplay they fell asleep when Steve Fisher broke clear – only to fire well wide of Damien King’s net when it appeared easier to score. Michal Oravec almost put the teams level moments later but Damien King was on top form yet again to keep the Streatham import out. Oravec’s next bit of action was to skate into the penalty box for hacking down Rehak, but frustratingly the Dynamos failed to carve out any clear chances on the powerplay. Adam Rehak was playing out of his skin and he got his just rewards on 33:24, latching onto an Arran Strawson pass to dance his way through challenges and poke the puck under King for 2-0.

Kevin Parrish would not have been happy on 37 minutes when Jarvis Mewett got sent into the penalty box for checking from behind – the resulting powerplay capitalised on by Joe Johnston on 39:00 for 1-2 assisted by Oravec and Euan King.  With the clock ticking down, Nicky Lewis restored the two goal cushion right on the buzzer for a 3-1 lead to the Dynamos.

Streatham changed netminders for the third period, Sanderson replacing Euan King. Damien King was again on hand to defy both Britton and Wood in the third period, with the period igniting in the last two minutes. Streatham decided to pull netminder Sanderson from his goal to give them an extra skater but the move backfired.

There was a minute to go when a mix-up between Warman and Savage enabled Adam Rehak to score in an empty net for 4-1 at his hat-trick. Seconds later Adam McNicoll sealed victory for 5-1 converting after both Ryan Giles and Joe Johnston served penalties following an assist by Condren and Webster.

Man of the match for Invicta went to forward Mason Webster whilst David Savage took the honours for the home side.
