Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium has been shortlisted for an industry award within a year of opening.
The £2.9million community facility is among six vying for the Small Venue of the Year category at the TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2013.
Now in their fourth year, TheStadiumBusiness Awards are the only awards to recognise achievements from across the global stadium industry. Hundreds of nominations were received for the 15 categories.
The Gallagher Stadium will go up against the Adler-Arena Skating Center (Sochi, Russia); New York Stadium (Rotherham); Netanya Municipal Stadium (Netanya, Israel); Allianz Park (London) and NV Arena (Austria).
Maidstone United co-owner Oliver Ash commented: “The Gallagher Stadium has been a tremendous success for the football club, its supporters, the community and local economy. It is an honour to be short listed for this prestigious award and a proud moment for all those who were part of making it happen.”
Founder of TheStadiumBusiness Summit Ian Nuttall said: “Every year we’re impressed by the incredible level of innovation and professionalism we witness during the nomination process and this year was no exception. Nominees should be very proud of their achievements and we congratulate them all in reaching the shortlist.”
The winners will be announced at a gala evening in Manchester on 6 June.
