Ashford United have announced the signing of former Gillingham and Ramsgate defender Craig Stone.
Stone joins the Nuts and Bolts after a stellar season with Ramsgate, where he demonstrated his prominence as a Centre Half.
Having played 30 matches, Craig was pivotal in Ramsgate’s push for promotion in the Isthmian League South East.
His impressive career includes stints with Gillingham (15 appearances), Brentford (loan, 6), two spells at Ebbsfleet United (135), Dover Athletic (62), Eastbourne Borough (79), Tonbridge Angels (32), and Hastings United (41).
Having made Stone the latest recruit to join him at Ashford United, new manager Danny Kedwell said: “I’m glad we managed to get Craig over the line, as there was interest from four or five clubs.”
“He knows this level of football very well and is an experienced centre half who will bring great experience to the club.”
“Not only does Craig fit my philosophy, but he is also a great character to have around and will bring valuable experience to our younger players.”
Craig Stone’s arrival marks a significant addition to the Ashford United squad, promising both solid defensive capabilities and mentorship for their rising players.
