Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens covered himself in glory as England lost the Hong Kong sixes final to Pakistan.

The 35 year old had an impressive tournament which saw the England side eventually finish runners-up to an experienced Pakistan side.

Stevens opened the batting for England in the Final, hitting 19 off just 6 balls before being caught and bowled by Umar Akmal.

Both Abdul Razzaq and Sohail Tanvir hit half-centuries as Pakistan went on to win the game by 35 runs.

Earlier in the day, Stevens scored an unbeaten 32 off just 10 balls against Sri Lanka in the Semi-final whilst taking 2 for 8 in his eight ball over.

England had started the day with a comfortable two wicket win over India in the Quarter Final with Stevens hitting another 19 off just 6 balls.

The whole tournament has been a great success for Stevens who scored 18 off just three balls against Ireland along with 35 off just 10 balls against Bangladesh in the qualifying group stage.

He also impressed in the Rest of the World v All Stars game on Friday smashing 105 off just 35 balls.

Speaking to KSN before he left for Hong Kong, Stevens was keen to use the tournament to impress the England selectors with a view to breaking into the One Day International side.

On this form, surely he must be in the selector’s minds now.
