Racing driver Aaron Steele can’t wait for January to come around so he can race the famous Daytona circuit in America.
The 22 year old from Rochester clinched the Sunoco Grand-Am 200 Challenge with a double race win at Silverstone earlier this month and that has secured him a drive of a lifetime at Daytone International Speedway.
Speaking excusively to Kent Sports News, Steele was thrilled with his performance at Silverstone:
“It was a great result for me. The weekend went as planned with two race wins, although I didn’t get two poles, but it was nice to wrap up the Sunoco Challenge.”
“I can’t wait to get started with the whole Daytona thing and it’s just about starting to sink in.”
Many motor racing fans will remember Steele from his time in A1 GP and now he is plotting his future in motor sport:
“At the moment this has opened up a lot of doors in America. There’s lots of interest buzzing around about me getting a drive out there next year which is big and exciting.”
“It’s only talk at the moment, but you never know with this business. It can change your life overnight and you never know where you can end up. You’ve got to keep the dream alive and keep hoping to make it happen.”
“I love driving single seaters, but the only way to make something from that would be to end up in Formula 1 or Indy Car.”
“Formula 1 is probably unachievable as you need a lot of money to get into there, so I may have to look to get into some tin top racing.”
With Sevenoaks’ Mike Conway already racing in the Indy Car series, should Steele follow in his footsteps Kent would be well represented in America.
To prepare himself for his trip to America in January, Steele will be watching videos of the famous Daytona circuit on You Tube along with making calls to friends that have raced the circuit before.
Kent Sports News will be following Steele’s progress as he embarks on this next step of his already successful career.
