Midweek football takes place in Eltham in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division on Wednesday evening when Stansfeld host VCD Athletic.
During the summer, a number of teams moved grounds, one being Stansfeld who have left Foxbury, the home of Glebe F.C., to move in with Cray Valley PM at their Artic Stadium, known to locals as Badgers. The game with the Vickers will be their first game in their new surroundings.
Their three games, so far this season, have all been on the road. They started with a one-one draw at Bearsted when they went in behind at the break and a man down following a red card. However, they remained in the game and grabbed an equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Jack Mahon scored.
They then visited Badshot Lea in the F.A. Cup Extra Preliminary Round and lost one-nil before going down four-one at Snodland Town.
Meanwhile, the Vickers have been enjoying a solid start to the season. Charley Heatly scored the only goal in their home win against Lydd Town followed by a three-one F.A. Cup win at Metropolitan Police in a feisty match in which three players were sent off, two of whom were from VCD.
Then, on Saturday, they defeated Hollands and Blair by the odd goal in three with Dieko Falade and Bethel Gboda on the scoresheet.
In the league matches between the two teams last season, the game at VCD in November ended all square. Gboda put the Vickers ahead just shy of the half hour mark before Tommy Whitnell levelled nine minutes into the second half.
When they met in the return game, at the end of March, the Vickers enjoyed a convincing win on the road. Harry Lawrence and Manny Shoderu put them two-up at the break and Zac Bryon added a third five minutes after the restart. Reiss Skeen pulled one back with twenty minutes remaining but a last minute own-goal rounded off a four-one scoreline.
