Stansfeld v Staplehurst Monarchs preview

Kent Senior Trophy football takes place in Eltham on Sunday when Stansfeld host Staplehurst Monarchs.

Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division , Stansfeld, started their run to the quarter finals with a first round two-one victory at Forest Hill Park. Then, in the second round, they visited another Division One club when winning three-one at Faversham Strike Force, courtesy of goals scored by Greg Williams, Archie Panyi and Kameron Mendez.

Division One visitors Staplehurst have enjoyed two comprehensive victories in the tournament, first with a three-nil win at home to Rochester and then sunning Premier Division Fisher and at home with a five-one win. Luke Adams scored a hat-trick with both Jack Hyslop and Jack Bray also registering goals.

In the Premier League, Stansfeld came into the weekend in sixteenth place, and are enduring a poor run of form having lost their last seven matches. Their last victory was recorded in early November. Their most recent outing was at Whitstable Town where they lost two-nil.

Mid-table Staplehurst will be playing their sixth consecutive away match and have not played at home since mid-November. In their last match they were defeated five-nil at Sheppey Sports.

Both teams will be looking at the match as an opportunity to get back to winning ways as well as advancing to the semi-finals.
