There were goals galore when Stansfeld entertained Rusthall in a Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division league match.
By the time it finished each club had scored six times and it seemed like scant reward that they only claimed a point apiece for providing so much entertainment.
Harvey Mead burst through for Stansfeld early on but was stopped by a brilliant tackle by Louis Anderson then Dario Sesay-De Luca had a shot beaten out by Rustics goalkeeper Serine Sanneh but nobody was on hand to follow up.
In the twelfth minute, the hosts’ fast start was rewarded with a goal when Oliver Andrews’ long range shot took a deflection that left Sanneh stranded.
Mead’s pull back then set up Rob Hughes whose low shot towards the bottom corner was well saved by Sanneh.
At the other end, Louie Clarke turned tightly and fired just over before Stansfeld doubled their lead. Harrison English went on a long run and pulled it back to Hughes, and this time he made no mistake with a crisp finish.
Two minutes later, Rusthall pulled one back when Louis Anderson slung in a free kick from the left wing that evaded everyone and bounced in.
Mustafa Hashemi then went on a good run, looking for an equaliser, but his low cross was cut out well by Stansfeld goalkeeper Hugo Webb then Jack Kirby eased forward and it opened up for him only for the Rusthall man to shoot high and wide.
Stef Kempton delivered a corner for the hosts that was flicked on to Ibrahim Barrie who made no mistake from close range to make the score three one, and the hosts scored again when a through ball found Chris Alhassan and he fired home powerfully from the edge of the penalty area.
Sesay-De Luca hit the defensive wall with a free kick and Mead shot wide as the hosts finished the half well on top.
Referee Michael Jones was unable to continue for the second half, and was replaced by the senior assistant referee with the assessor taking the vacant flag.
Four minutes after the break, and with the slope now in their favour, the visitors pulled one back when Clark was slipped through and showed great composure by rounding Webb coolly and slotting home.
Midway through the second half Rusthall scored again when Webb punched a corner into Robbie Bissett and it rebounded back into the net. Six minutes later, with Stansfeld down to ten men due to Kempton being in the ‘sin bin’, the visitors made it four apiece when Jack Lyons struck a low free kick into the bottom corner.
Mead looked to restore Stansfeld’s lead with a shot that drew a good low save out of Sanneh but it was the visitors who drew next blood with the goal of the game when Yassin Fares broke down the left wing, cut in and hit a right foot drive high into the far corner.
Bissett fired well over when trying to give Rusthall a two goal margin before Kempton was allowed to return. That gave the hosts a boost and they levelled four minutes from time through a well struck free kick by Mead.
Two minutes into stoppage time, Rusthall again thought that they had won it when Clarke waited for his moment to play it perfectly into the path of Fares who made no mistake with a clinical finish. Stansfeld weren’t to be denied though and they levelled again in the sixth additional minute when Kameron Mendez slanted in a diagonal cross and Greg Williams rose to head home.
Moments later, the final whistle was blown and there was no time for a tie break with the score at six all.
