Jose Riga has moved swiftly to address Charlton’s recent goal drought. The Addick’s are the Football League’s lowest scorers, notching just 24 goals so far this season.
The signing of Jonathan Obika, until the end of the season, was confirmed on Monday afternoon. Obika has recently been on loan at Brighton and made five substitute appearances in the league for the Seagulls. He made one start plus a further two substitute appearances in the FA Cup, scoring once.
Obika is no stranger to The Valley of course, he arrived on loan at the end of last season. The 23-year-old Tottenham striker scored three goals in ten appearances, eight of them as a substitute. Obika will wear the number 12 shirt and goes straight into the squad for the game against Bournemouth at The Valley on Tuesday.
The Addicks were anxious to add firepower to their frontline, as well as creativity from midfield.
It would be no surprise if further signings were imminent.
