Faversham Strike Force under 15’s proudly represented the Town and Club at this seasons Easter & Spring Festival of Football at Butlins Bognor Regis this weekend.
With some of the best teams from across the Country coming together, the football packed weekend commenced on the Saturday with Faversham’s opening game against Welsh team, Rogerstone Rangers FC.
Strike Force went one – nil down early on but battled well and replied with goals from Sam Brissenden, James Spurrier and Andrew Parker. However it was Spurrier who grabbed the headlines in the 4-2 victory, scoring a spectacular volley from 35 yards into the far bottom corner.
Unfortunately that was to be the only victory for Faversham as the next two games finished one – nil to Cheam Rangers FC and eventual runners up, Gosport Falcons FC.
This was the team’s sixth tour and was seen as a huge success by Strike Force players, officials and guests with Manager and Coach, Lee Suter praising the group, “Each and every one of the players showed real maturity and impeccable behaviour throughout the weekend and the group developed an excellent team spirit”.
Spurrier’s amazing goal was rewarded at the end of festival presentation with former Liverpool and England star, Mark Wright on hand to present James with the golden ball award in recognition of his stunning volley.
All players were welcomed onto the presentation stage to collect participation trophies from Mark Wright.
Suter finished by saying “This tour was the best of the lot and I am extremely proud of the players dedication and commitment to the team and how they represented the Club in such a professional manner”.
