The Kent Spitfires hopes of playing their CB40 game against the Sussex Sharks at Arundel were dashed with the game abandoned.
There was little choice for the umpires when they inspected the pitch and outfield at 1:30pm on Monday afternoon and they called the game off without a ball being bowled.
Heavy overnight rain had fallen on an already saturated outfield and the players were forced to return to Kent having seen no chance of any play.
Kent Spitfires and the Sussex Sharks will each take a point from the abandoned game, taking the Spitfires up to third in the group table, three points behind leaders Sussex.
It’s back to County Championship action for Kent now as they prepare for the visit of Glamorgan to Canterbury beginning on Thursday.
