Kent’s latest game against Warwickshire in the Royal London Cup was called off without a ball being bowled at Rugby School.
For the second game running, the Spitfires were to be denied by the wet weather with Friday night’s game against Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge abandoned with not enough play to force a result.
Heavy early morning rain cast some doubt as to whether play would start on time at Rugby School with the scheduled start time of 10:30am coming and going with the covers on.
More heavy showers throughout the morning forced the umpires to call for an inspection at midday and it came as no surprise that they called the game off without a ball being bowled.
Both sides take a point each from the game, keeping the Spitfires top of Group B in the Royal London Cup, unbeaten in their first six games now with three wins, two no results and a tie.
The Spitfires will now turn their attention to facing the Sussex Sharks at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury on Wednesday afternoon with play scheduled to start at 2pm.
